parenting_mythsAt Parents Ask, Elizabeth Pantley, author of The No-Cry Discipline Solution, confronts five common parenting myths.

  1. If a parent is truly attached and committed to a child, then that child will behave properly. False!
  2. You can’t spoil a new baby. False!
  3. Most infants have sleep problems. False!
  4. Good parents don’t lose their patience and yell at their children. False!
  5. In parenting, it’s important to be consistent. True!

I especially like Elizabeth’s take on myth #1. Even the best children misbehave every once in a while. Plus, who wants a kid who never gets in trouble? It actually reminded me of one of Tony’s great pieces about his son Tanner.
