This might be going a little overboard...

I’d never heard this one before, but one weight loss tip is to drink a lot of water before eating a meal. The idea is that the water fills your stomach and makes you less hungry… which sounds like bologna to me! So I went to research the truth behind it.

But surprisingly, it works, just not on everyone. A recent study from Virginia Tech took overweight subjects ages 55 and up and put them on low-calorie diets. Half of the group was told to drink two cups of water before each meal. After three months, the water-drinking group had lost an average of 15.5 lbs. as opposed to the non-water-drinking people, who had lost only 11 lbs. That’s a fairly substantial difference!

Another study from 2007 revealed that the effect wasn’t nearly as great on adults under 35. The reasoning is unclear, perhaps having some to do with people over 55 being at higher risk of obesity. So if you’re over 55, maybe a couple glasses of water before diving into your Thanksgiving dinner might not be a bad idea!

I think it does help – when I remember to drink water first, or at all, as I should – it curbs my appetite more, however – keeps me peeing all day long!

Interesting. Hadn't thought of doing that before. I may look into drinking a bit more water prior to meals just in case. As for the extra trips to the bathroom, I've heard that the body adjusts a little bit to that, but haven't put it to the test myself. :)

Being a part of "Hypersonic Weight Loss" has put me back in touch with the fun-loving, exotic woman within. It taught me how to creatively express that which only a woman can do and feel. I did this for me. My goal was to get shaped, toned and lose weight.

yeah it's true, it makes you feel less hungry and keeps you hydrated too.
It would help us lose weight even more if we first, go for a glass of water, every time we feel hungry or craving for something.

It can't hurt, right?

Actually it makes my son bonkers because he will so often say to me he's hungry and I respond by saying 'drink some water'. He always tells me it doesn't help. I thought he was just being an argumentative teen. Now I'll reconsider what he's saying.

Actually, if I drink lot's of water before eating, I get a really bad upset stomach. Not sure why that happens, but it makes me really nauseating. However, I still try to drink my 8 glasses daily.

That's awesome. I have a hard time with self control, apparently, but love water. I'm going to try to start doing this and see what happens. Maybe if I put the conscious effort into doing it at every meal, I'll also eat less whether because of the water or because I'm thinking more about losing weight.

I have seen plenty of useful factors on your site about computer systems. However, I’ve the viewpoint that notebook computers are still not nearly powerful adequately to be a option if you generally do jobs that require plenty of power, like video modifying. But for internet surfing, statement processing, and quite a few other prevalent computer work they are just fine, provided you can’t mind the screen size. Thank you for sharing your thinking.

I believe that avoiding processed foods is a first step to lose weight. They may taste fine, but highly processed foods have got very little vitamins and minerals, making you eat more just to have enough vigor to get through the day. In case you are constantly taking in these foods, transferring to whole grain products and other complex carbohydrates will help you have more electricity while consuming less. Interesting blog post.

Superb blog! Do you have any recommendations for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m totally confused .. Any suggestions? Appreciate it!
