cheapest_airfareThe New York Times compared four competing airfare “meta-search” engines, sites that crawl offerings from many airlines at once, so you don’t have to. Included were Kayak, Fly.com, Bing Travel, and Momondo, all which had similar but different results.

Kayak came up with pretty cheap results, and even included a nifty baggage calculator, which will definitely swing the cost of your travel depending on which airline you take. Bing Travel offered the same fare, minus baggage checker, but offered an interesting feature called the Price Predicator which algorithmically determines whether a fare is likely to go up or down in price over the next week.

Fly.com had the best bargain though, and even offered side-by-side comparison of economy and first-class seats. (I assume if you’re putting this much effort in booking your travel, you’re sticking with coach.) Last, Momondo, which is based in Denmark, searches for the cheapest way to get around Europe, and includes high-speed rail routes as well as airfare.

So there you have it: plenty of options for finding the cheapest airfare. Clearly, it still takes a little bit of digging, and if you’d really like to be frugal, why not try out two or three of these search engines at a time? Or maybe just wait until there’s a meta-meta-search engine that crawls all four of these for you.

Cyber Defender January 27, 2011 at 8:16 am

As a cyber defender, I travel out of town at least 5 times a month, sometimes more. We're a small operation, so when consultants travel, we're required to book all of our travel arrangements ourselves. Naturally, this is a time consuming process and we all dread it. I appreciate this information to help me sort through my options more efficiently. I'll be sharing this with the rest of my co-workers. Thanks!

Interesting blog post. Things i would like to contribute is that personal computer memory must be purchased if the computer cannot cope with anything you do along with it. One can install two RAM memory boards containing 1GB each, in particular, but not one of 1GB and one with 2GB. One should make sure the maker’s documentation for one’s PC to ensure what type of storage is needed.

I once traveled with one of my family made??. It was beautiful. We wanted to relax a little bit, because we all work very much. My mother was very happy that we finally go somewhere. My daughter has jumped into the air. It has been happy. We like it when we travel somewhere together can, because there is always something happening. This time we have seen how the men in a parking lot, car tires had to unpack on a car. Strangely, we have again made ??the move. At that moment, all passenger cars tires were everywhere. The consolidation of the trailer was a bit broken and too weak for that. All passenger car tires were thrown apart. Although the’ve all seen them, nobody helped, although that was in the center of town, where most cars drive. My husband has stopped quickly in order to help the men. It was very nice, I think. With the help of my husband, everything went faster than without him. The workers were very grateful that he helped in the collection of passenger car tires. I hope they will do anything that they go happily to the target.
