BPA is a hormone-disrupting chemical that seeps into your food and water from plastics and cans. While manufacturers keep reassuring people that BPA is not harmful, new research keeps finding evidence that says otherwise. This morning, a study from Washington State University revealed that even small amounts of BPA have negative effects on the ovaries of female mice.
And the worst part is that the BPA exposure, which only takes 12 hours to affect the formation of eggs, gets passed not only from the mother’s children but to her grandchildren as well.
The research may have just been on mice, but yikes, there’s a reason we test mice first! The best way to avoid BPA exposure is to not use any food or drink containers that have the recycling code #7. Unfortunately, that includes a lot of canned foods and drinks, and while it might be impossible to cut all of those out of your diet, maybe cutting back isn’t such a bad idea.

It seems like every time we turn around there's some new food warning. Now its food containers. I'm beginning to think my friend who decided to go green early this spring, sticking with all local grown food, or at least all organic, may have the right idea. I just don't know if I have that kind of energy (or money).
They do issue these warnings very often, but at least the U.S. is a country where the media keeps people informed about warnings like this. Then people can make their own decisions as to whether they can buy things that contain the substance (or the government can pull it from the shelves like Canada recently did.) I am currently in South America where I haven’t seen any mention in the press here about these warnings.
Chrome switches and sockets can really make a big difference to a room. They are a good alternative to the regular plastic style light switches and sockets. The standard ones which builders install in all rooms of a house are white and do nothing to make the room look better. Chrome sockets add a touch of class and match perfectly with home entertainment systems which have the same silver/gray finish.
