I’ve always felt a little guilty that I’ve never participated in the early-morning shopping frenzy known as Black Friday (I’m always still a little too full of turkey from the day before). I think about all the money I would save on Christmas gifts if I could muster up the energy to wake up a little earlier on those fateful Fridays. But have I really been missing out?

Apparently not. According to some experts, Black Friday won’t save you a whole lot of money — in fact, you might even save money by sleeping in. Or at the very least, shopping online. 95% of Black Friday deals offered in-store are also available online. And of course there’s Cyber Monday, which is the following Monday for online retailers and won’t force you to wake up at 4am.

The “limited time” deals at retailers are used to lure in customers, but many of the deals aren’t that deep. Most shoppers don’t get there in time, and even of those that do, they probably aren’t saving as much money as they think they are.

Each year, 138 million people go to the stores on Black Friday. That’s more than one out of every three people in the country. Count me in with the other two-thirds that knows sleeping in is well worth giving up small discount on my Christmas shopping.

I think for some it's the thrill of the hunt…. I prefer my bed at 4:00 in the morning. Hee Hee

I am a Cyber-Monday gal, myself. I use the day after Thanksgiving to sleep in and get rest!

We already have our plans together… which includes only online shopping!! We're buying a brand new camera from Walmart on Friday morning. Along with some other things too. Can't wait!

There's nothing I "need" so I'm skipping it.

I may head out to try to get a WP7 devices for my wife as part of the BOGO at AT&T, but otherwise I tend to agree. There are one or two really, really good deals per store and if you don't get those, you might as well stay home. Nothing really new here except that the last year or two have led to better overall prices as stores compete for $$$.

That's so nice to know. I always feel like I miss out on such great deals, but I really can't handle the stress. I went one around 10am and still got some great deals, but now it seems like it's better to stay home and find the online deals. I'm also wary of the different models that are sold, so customers think they're getting "Item A" for a great deal when they're actually getting "Item B" which is A without several features…

I hate crowds so this is not the day that I shop. I also do a lot of shopping on line….I can look, compare prices and get what I want in the convenience of my home
