Buying the Essentials for Your Kitchen

Over Unclutterer, Erin Doland has tips on outfitting a minimalist kitchen — a list of the ten most essential items. She covers everything from skillets to knife sets to Dutch ovens to food turners (hey, it turns out that’s the official name for a spatula). Erin’s article also reminded me of an article from Times food columnist Mark Bittman, who suggests buying all your kitchen stuff at a restaurant supply store to save money hand over fist from those “culinary” stores.

This is a great guide if you’re like me, finally thrust into a post-collegiate world (read: no more cafeteria). Now if only I could afford a $120 cast iron skillet.

Check it out at Unclutterer.
