We are all pumped here at Life360 about our new release that just came out yesterday for Android, iPhone, and the web! We have a fresh new design and a fantastic new feature that will change the way you keep your family safe and in-sync. I’m so excited about this new addition that I have to share how it works so that you can start using it right away. I would like to introduce you to our newest feature: Places. While this service is still in beta, you’ll find it works great anywhere in the world.
First, let’s find out what Places is and how to use it. Places is a great way to know when your loved ones have arrived at a destination or are leaving a set location. For instance, you can be notified once Sally arrives at the library or when Billy is leaving school. To receive these automatic alerts, you can use the Places feature to define a location inside the Life360 app. It is very easy to do and best of all, you do not have to be at the location in order to make it a Place!
I said it was easy to set up a Place and I’ll prove it now. Follow these simple steps now to create a new Place in less than 5 minutes:
- Inside the Menu in the Life360 app, tap on Places
- Click the Add Place button
- Move the map to the area you want to add, or input the address into the search field. Make sure the blue marker is above the area you want to set up.
- Name the place (like home, school, or work) so you will know where your family member is located when we alert you. Each time you set up a new Place, it must be named uniquely.
- Press Save
- Next you can choose who you want to set the Place for and whether you want to be alerted when they arrive, leave, or both.
I’d like to point out a few important points about Places. At the moment, there is a limit of two Places for each account. Also, each Place needs to be named uniquely. For example, you cannot name two places School. Be a bit more specific and set one as Sally’s Middle School and one as Billy’s High School instead. Lastly, this service will work anywhere in the world as long as the phone you are locating is an iPhone or Android device with the Life360 app installed, the phone is connected to the internet, and it has Run in the Background turned on inside the app. I’d also recommend having WiFi turned on to help make the service more reliable.
There you go! You are now a pro at Places. I hope you try it out today and tell the team what you think. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the service or about how you are using the Life360 app! Feel free to comment below or email email@example.com any great stories you have about using the Life360 app to keep your family safe and in sync.
