3 Reasons Schools Should Ban Chocolate Milk

With Michelle Obama’s war against childhood obesity, school cafeteria’s across the country are working to make their lunch menus healthier. The Washington Post‘s Petula Dvorak thinks a good step is banning chocolate milk. Why? Three main reasons:

  1. It doubles the amount of sugar in a cup of milk, and increases the number of calories from 100 to 140.
  2. It trains kids to have a sweeter palate — if your child is constantly drinking chocolate milk, he/she will have hard time drinking regular milk, or really anything that doesn’t have high sugar content.
  3. Milk is sweet enough as it is.

It’s certainly a beverage that can be enjoyed in moderation, but true, if kids have the option between regular milk and chocolate milk every day, guess which one they’re going to pick?

Do you think kids should drink chocolate milk?
