10 Safest Cities for Kids

According to Men’s Health, a magazine people apparently still read, the number one safest city in America is Madison, Wisconsin, based on factors like accidental death rates, car seat inspections per child, number of predators per capita, etc.

  1. Madison, Wisconsin
  2. Honolulu, Hawaii
  3. San Francisco, California
  4. Virginia Beach, Virginia
  5. Spokane, Washington
  6. Providence, Rhode Island
  7. Jersey City, New Jersey
  8. Colorado Springs, Colorado
  9. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  10. Burlington, Vermont

Madison seems like a great choice. The city has 13 beaches and over 260 parks, a zoo, botanical gardens, an arboretum, and a great children’s museum.

What was on the butt end of this list? Jacksonville, Florida. That’s not to say that Jacksonville is a dangerous place, per se, but it’s definitely a city built for adults with very little in mind for children.
