When was the last time you misplaced your car keys? It happens to people all the time, and it can be frustrating to run around in the morning wondering what you could’ve possibly done with them, or if your toddler decided to hide them from you.

Everyone has lost their car keys at some point. Sometimes, it happens more often than not. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to help make it easier to keep track of those keys, such as choosing to get a car key finder or use Tile trackers to find lost keys and other home devices.

Where to Look for Your Lost Car Keys

“I lost my car keys, now what?” Is this a popular refrain in your household? When you can’t find your lost car keys, stop to think about the last time you remember having them. This could give you a clue as to where you put them.

Learn how to find lost remote car keys by first looking in some of the more common areas where people tend to misplace their keys. Here’s where to find lost car keys in a lot of cases.

1. On the Roof of Your Car or Your Trunk

You might hop out of the car and place the keys in those areas while grabbing items from the car, such as groceries, your child from their car seat, your laptop, luggage, etc.

2. In the Door To Your House

Checking the door to your house for lost car keys is an obvious first step in the search for misplaced items - after all, it's usually the last place you remember having them. Look closely around the door frame, handles and locks, as well as any nearby furniture or table where they could have been placed or knocked off accidentally.

3. Under Couch Cushions or On Countertops

Checking the couch cushions and countertops is also a great place to look for lost car keys. You should make sure to feel around or even lift up the cushions for any small items that may have fallen underneath. Don't forget to check any drawers, shelves, or countertops that could have potentially been used to store keys.

4. Inside of Your Refrigerator or Freezer

Checking the refrigerator or freezer for a lost set of car keys may seem counterintuitive, but it's certainly worth doing if you think you've exhausted all other possibilities. Take the time to look under and inside both the crisper drawers and any other compartments to make sure that your keys are not hiding there.

5. In the Pockets of Yesterday’s Clothes

Checking the pockets of yesterday's clothes is an often overlooked step in recovering a lost set of car keys. This may be especially true if you had worn a coat, or if your keys had been stored in the pocket of a pair of trousers. Make sure to thoroughly feel around each pocket, as small items like keys can easily go unnoticed.

6. Inside of a Backpack or Handbag

Checking a backpack or handbag for lost keys is an important step to take in the search for misplaced items, particularly if you think you had them with you when they went missing.

Carefully scan through every pocket and compartment, as well as any loose items that may have been inside. Don't forget to feel around any zippered areas or small compartments that may have been used for storage.

7. In Your Car Itself

Finally, you should check the car itself for any lost keys that may have been left behind. If you think it's possible that your keys may be in the vehicle, look around the driver and passenger seats as well as in between or under them for any potential hiding spots.

These are where to find lost car keys most of the time. However, that doesn’t mean that your keys are always going to be in those spots. You might want to invest in a car key finder and app, as well. Learn how to find car keys with a phone. It’s easier than you might think, and it can eliminate all of the wandering around the house hoping you’ll spot them.

1. Use a Bluetooth Tracker, like Tile

You may have asked before, Can I put a tracking device on my keys? And the answer is a resounding YES!. Bluetooth trackers, like Tile, can be attached to your keys and other items, and then tracked through the app on your phone.

2. Download the Life360 app or a Key Finder Device App

You can easily find your lost keys using Tile and the app. If you aren’t sure whether you left them in the kitchen, the bedroom, or somewhere else, just use the app. The keys will ring, and the app will let you know when you are getting closer. Save time and frustration when it comes to finding your keys.

3. Use Bluetooth Tracking Feature in the App

Using a Bluetooth tracking feature will help you locate exactly where your keys are.

4. Use Audio Cues

Use audio cues emitted from within the device on your phone’s speaker system when using a Tile tracker in order to hear where and how far away it is located from you so that you can pinpoint its precise location more accurately.

Never Lose Your Keys Again with Tile Trackers

When you opt for Tile Trackers and learn how to find car keys with a phone, you will never have to worry. As long as you have your phone and the app, you can quickly and easily pinpoint the location of your phone.
