Today, Jiobit by Life360 is excited to share that we’re working with Amazon Sidewalk to actively explore even more ways to keep your loved ones safer and more connected. 

What exactly is Amazon Sidewalk?

Amazon Sidewalk is designed to make your devices work better – both inside your home and beyond the front door. Operated by Amazon at no charge to customers, Sidewalk uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) and LoRa in the 900 MHz band, to simplify new device setup, extend the low-bandwidth working range of devices, and help devices communicate even if they are outside the range of home wifi.

Jiobit by Life360’s proof of concept with Amazon will explore how Sidewalk can offer expanded long-range coverage and improved power consumption for our customers even when other kinds of connections aren’t available, giving parents, caregivers, and pet owners even more peace of mind and more tools to locate the ones they care about.

Today, Jiobit’s Progressive Beaconing Technology intelligently switches between the most battery-efficient wireless signals to keep the Jiobit Smart Tag connected. Through this proposed integration, we believe adding Amazon Sidewalk alongside a variety of other wireless connection methods will extend battery life for Jiobit devices in areas that may not have reliable cellular, WiFi, or Bluetooth signals. 

In environments with poor cellular coverage, we believe Jiobit by Life360 will be able to switch to Amazon Sidewalk to stay connected and continue to provide accurate location information. Imagine situations where cellular sites fail, weather events restrict coverage, or structures reduce cell signal; Expanding our service to include Amazon Sidewalk will provide another way for the most vulnerable among us to be located and protected, providing peace of mind to more caregivers.
