Our Innovative New Partnership Will Find Your Lost HP Laptop

Whether working from home or preparing to head back into the office, being able to find your laptop when you need it is absolutely crucial--especially during these uncertain times. Earlier this year, Tile found that nearly three-fourths (72%) said the ability to find their lost or misplaced laptop would be very or extremely valuable.

How Does Tile Work to Find My Lost HP Laptop?

Beginning today, HP’s popular EliteBook 800 G8 Series and the ZBook Firefly 14 and 15 G8, will ship with Tile pre-installed onto the device. These new laptops join the Elite Dragonfly and EliteBook 1000 Series in HP’s growing lineup of Tile-enabled products. This new integration makes it incredibly easy for customers and corporate IT department’s alike to access Tile’s tracking technology on their laptops--without adding any extra hardware to the sleek and convenient design of the computer.  

It’s a significant milestone for Tile, HP and Intel, and our customers. This is our first device integration with Intel after having announced plans for collaboration earlier this year. Our team continues to work closely with Intel and PC manufacturers to determine the best Tile experience for oue users. In fact, in 2021 Tile will come pre-installed on select HP-11th Gen Intel Core Platforms configured with Intel wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) WLAN cards and integrated Intel Bluetooth. 

“By integrating Tile capabilities into our Wi-Fi / Bluetooth solutions for Intel PC platforms, we’ve made it extremely easy for our PC partners to activate Tile and offer this feature to users,” said Eric McLaughlin, Vice President Client Computing Group and GM Wireless Solutions Group at Intel.

How do I use it?

Once activated through the Tile Windows app, EliteBook 800 Series and ZBook Firefly users can take advantage of the powerful finding features on the Tile mobile app to find their laptop when it’s lost somewhere nearby or far away. These features help you track down your lost laptop even work when the device is in sleep, hibernate, or soft off mode.

If your HP laptop is lost nearby, Elitebook 1000 Series customers will be able to use the Life360 app to make their devices ring instantaneously so they can find it wherever it’s hiding. Owners of the other compatible HP laptops mentioned above can use the Tile Detector in the Life360 app to help them find their lost laptop or notebook.

When a Tile-integrated HP laptop is lost farther away, customers can also use the map in their Life360 app to see it’s last known location and get directions back to it. Or, if it’s not there, HP laptops with Tile tracking can be found by the global Tile Network. Whenever another smartphone running the Life360 app passes within range of the lost laptop, the Tile Network automatically and anonymously updates the owner with the latest location.
