5 Strange Places People Lose Their Keys

Ever wonder if other people lose their stuff in places as seemingly random as you do? The answer is a resounding yes- and one of the top reasons why people trust Tile to keep track of their keys and other essentials.

Whether you’re chronically losing your things, or the person who never loses anything (but are still curious about where people do lose their essentials), here are the top 5 strangest places people have left their keys behind.

Strangest Places People Lose Track of Their Keys

1. In the refrigerator

I know, I know, super cliche but people lose their keys in the fridge more than we realize.

Fun fact: One of the ways the Tile team tested our newest lineup was by locking them in the fridge and freezer. And guess what - they still worked! Obviously the ring was much softer through a freezer door, but that’s where the visual finding via the proximity meter in the Life360 app comes in handy. Just follow the signal strength displayed by the green circles, and you'll be able to see whether you're getting closer or farther away from your Tile.

2: In the washer / dryer

We’ve arguably done this more times than we’d like to admit…

3: At the bar

Always, always happens. People have lost their keys countless times out at night. Blame it on the alcohol. Besides, you probably shouldn’t be driving yourself home after a few drinks anyways.

4: On the roof of your car

Or in the trunk! Don’t we all try to grab all of the grocery bags in one go?

Similarly, we can’t tell you how many times Tile users have driven off with their keys on the roof of their cars and have hunted their lost keys down in nearby bushes, streets, and even busy highways. Thank goodness for Life360!

5: In the kids (or pets) toy box

Ah, the joys of being a parent. Whether your child is a fur baby or a human baby, sometimes it’s hard to keep track of all their little things and your own. And other times they prefer playing with keys over all the other toys in the house, which means they end up in a place they shouldn’t be.

If you’re looking for your lost keys and still can’t find them, try searching in other random places like the bathrooms, the trash cans, and in between your couch cushions. Or, you can simply attach a Tile to your keys and never worry about losing them again!
