How Do Tile Trackers Work Long Distance?
Tile Bluetooth Trackers have been helping users locate lost, misplaced, or stolen items for years now. Bluetooth trackers, however, are different from GPS trackers and provide location updates within their set ranges.
But have you ever wondered how these trackers work across long distances, outside of their reach of range? Here, we will dive into the technology behind Tile and explore how these devices manage to work, even when out of range.
What Are Tile Trackers?
To understand how Tile trackers work across long distances, we must first understand what Tile trackers are. Tile trackers are small, battery-powered devices designed to track the personal belongings of their users. Tile offers four different types of Bluetooth trackers to choose from:
1. Tile
2. Tile Pro
3. Tile Slim
4. Tile Sticker
These devices work by establishing a connection with your smartphone, allowing you to pinpoint the trackers on a map within the Life360 App.
How Does Tile Track Out-of-Range Trackers?
Tile trackers have a Bluetooth range for accurate location updates of 250-500ft, depending on the model you have. However, if you have left something behind, or something has been stolen, you may wonder how you’ll be able to find your item within the app.
1. Showing the Last Known Location
If you are certain that you left an item behind, you can always check your item’s last known location within the Life360 App. The app will show you where it was last located, and if it has not been moved, you can simply return to the location to find what you have lost.
2. Crowdsourcing the Location by Marking as ‘Lost’
If a Tile is out of range and you can't locate it, all you have to do is click the ‘Notify When Found’ button within the app. You will then be invited to enter your contact details and a brief message to whoever might find your item. In the meantime, the Tile Network will also be alerted about the lost item and can help to anonymously track it down.
With this, your Tile’s location will be able to be updated as it enters the range of other Tile users, so you will be able to find its new location on the map.
Tracking What Matters with Peace of Mind
Tile trackers are great for allowing us to keep tabs on our belongings, even when they are out of range. While they work best within a limited Bluetooth range, their long-distance capabilities, as provided by the Tile Network, are a true testament of community and reliability.
Understanding the basics of Bluetooth connectivity, the Tile Network, and the limitations of these devices can help you make the most of your Tile tracker. So, next time you find yourself wondering how Tile trackers work across long distances, you’ll know where to find the answer.
